the youtube-to-linkedin repurposing playbook
Turn content you've already made into your single biggest source of LinkedIn reach, without filming, writing, or thinking up anything new.
If you already make content, a podcast, a YouTube channel, a newsletter, you're sitting on the best LinkedIn growth engine you'll ever have. Most creators just never plug it in.
the insight that changes everythingFor one podcaster we work with, 500K YouTube subscribers, 100K Instagram, we built a system to repurpose his existing podcast episodes into LinkedIn posts. The result:
Read that again: the content written specially for LinkedIn was the part that underperformed. The stuff pulled from work he'd already done carried almost the entire account. If you already have a back catalogue of long-form content, you are dramatically underusing your single biggest LinkedIn asset.
why repurposed content outperforms "original" posts
- It's already been pressure-tested. A story you told on a podcast, or a point that landed in a video, has already proven it's interesting to a live audience. You're reusing something that already worked.
- It's in your real voice, automatically. When you're talking on a podcast or to camera, you sound like yourself, natural phrasing, real opinions, actual stories. That's exactly the voice that performs on LinkedIn, and it's almost impossible to fake when writing cold.
- The best moments are human, not niche. Long-form content is full of stories, hot takes, and offhand moments, the relatable material that travels furthest. Usually the bits you'd never think to "write a post about," but the ones that hit.
- You have infinite raw material. One podcast episode contains five to ten LinkedIn posts. A back catalogue contains hundreds. You'll never run out, and never stare at a blank page again.
the playbook: step by step
inventory your back catalogue
List everything long-form you've ever made: podcast episodes, YouTube videos, webinars, talks, newsletters, even long Twitter threads. This is your mine. Most creators have far more raw material than they realise, often years of it.
hunt for the gold, not the summary
Don't summarise the episode. Go through the transcript hunting for specific extractable moments: a story, a strong opinion or hot take, a surprising insight, a mistake-and-lesson, a vivid behind-the-scenes moment. Each is a potential post; a single rich episode can yield 5–10. Priority tip from the data: guest stories and personal narrative moments were the highest performers (~17,000 impressions average). Hunt for those first.
rebuild it as a linkedin post (don't paste the transcript)
Raw transcript text doesn't work as-is. Hook: open with the single most arresting line, never a wind-up. Body: tell the story the way you told it out loud; keep your real phrasing and rhythm. Don't sand it into "professional LinkedIn tone." Close: land the lesson, the takeaway, or a question that invites a reply.
mix it with intention
Repurposed posts shouldn't all do the same job. Sort them into reach posts (broad stories/opinions) that pull in new audience, and authority posts (insights, frameworks) that build credibility with the right people. Balance the two across your week.
schedule consistently
The whole advantage of repurposing is that you'll never run dry, so use that. Batch a month of repurposed posts at once and schedule them, instead of posting whenever you happen to clip something.
track which sources perform, then mine harder
Watch which episodes and which types of moment perform best. For our podcaster, guest stories crushed everything, so we mined more of them. Let the data tell you which seam of your catalogue is richest, then dig there.
the repurposing multiplier
Do the math on your own catalogue. Take your number of episodes/videos, multiply by ~5 posts each, that's the number of LinkedIn posts sitting in your archive right now.
the catch: why most creators don't do this
If repurposing is this effective, why doesn't everyone do it? Because it's a grind to do well, consistently: going through hours of transcripts to find the gold takes time; rebuilding each moment into a properly structured post takes skill; doing it every week without it slipping takes a system. Most creators try it for two weeks, find it tedious, and quietly stop. The advantage goes to whoever actually keeps the engine running.
want the engine run for you?
You can run this playbook yourself, it's yours to keep. But if you'd rather not spend your weeks combing transcripts, that's exactly what we do. We built this system for a podcaster and 94% of his LinkedIn impressions came from it, with repurposed posts averaging 40× his original content. We can do the same with your catalogue.
