how to choose a linkedin ghostwriter

The 18-point evaluation checklist for founders, creators & executives. Tick each point a candidate clearly passes, your verdict appears as you go.

~9 minwithout getting burnedanyone hiring help

When you hire a ghostwriter, you're not buying a service. You're lending out your voice and your credibility.

Most people who hire a LinkedIn ghostwriter are disappointed, not because ghostwriting can't work, but because they had no way to tell a good one from a bad one before signing. Take this into any sales call. Tick the box for each point the candidate clearly passes, higher score is better.

section 1: voice capture

The #1 reason ghostwriting fails, get this right or nothing else matters.

Why this section is weighted heaviest: “the ghostwriter didn't sound like me” is the single most common reason these arrangements fail.

section 2: process & speed

How much of YOUR time it costs, and how fast you see content.

section 3: strategy

Whether there's a brain behind the posts, or just writing.

section 4: how they use ai

The right question isn't “do you use AI”, it's “how.”

The honest test: a good operator can use AI heavily AND have it sound like you, because the input is your real voice and a human curates. Be suspicious of both “we never touch AI” and “the AI does it all.”

section 5: proof

Can they actually point to results, or just promises?

section 6: accountability

What happens if it doesn't work.

the five fastest red flags

If you're short on time, these five alone will catch most bad fits:

  1. They can't explain specifically how they capture your voice.
  2. They work from a brief or bullet points, not your actual words.
  3. They can't tell you what each post is for.
  4. They can't show real numbers from a comparable client.
  5. They put nothing on the line if it doesn't work.

Any two of these together, and you're likely looking at generic content and a disappointing few months.

A quick word on why we made this: we run LinkedIn ghostwriting, so yes, we have a horse in this race. But we'd genuinely rather you hire someone good, even if it's not us, than get burned and conclude LinkedIn doesn't work. This checklist is also exactly how we'd want to be judged.

want to see how we score against it?

Our whole approach is built on the things above: capturing your real voice in a single deep dive, starting every post from your actual words, mixing content by intention, using AI with a human curating every post, showing real client numbers, and backing it with a guarantee. Take this checklist into every conversation, including with us.
